MacArthur Fellowship awarded to Don Mee Choi

We are so thrilled that Don Mee Choi (DMZ COLONY, HARDLY WAR) has been awarded a 2021 MacArthur Fellowship in poetry and translation for "bearing witness to the effects of military violence and U.S. imperialism on the civilians of the Korean Peninsula." DMZ COLONY was the winner of the National Book Award in 2020, and it is exciting that these honors continue to bring visibility to her powerful work. In Don Mee's words, "The question I often I ask myself is, does my art perpetuate historical oblivion? I hope that my work generates literary resistance against geopolitical borders, including the borders of linguistic and literary conventions."
