Wave Books at AWP 2019 in Portland

We are very excited to be heading to Portland for AWP, in just a few weeks! We are hosting two offsite events and will be at the AWP Bookfair for its duration. A ton of our authors will be in town reading with us and at many other fine venues. We'll have more details to share as we get closer, but for now, just a few:

Bookfair:
The bookfair is open Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, from 9AM–5PM. AWP has reinstated their $5 Saturday-only bookfair pass; for those not attending the full conference, it's a nearly free way to go to the best bookstore in the world that exists that weekend. Come see us at tables T8027 and T8029

Thursday, March 28:
Join us at the Pacific Northwest College of Art for a Burning Deck Books Exhibit and a tribute to Keith and Rosmarie Waldrop. We'll be showing off Burning Deck publications from the past 60 years, including rare letterpress editions and magazines, and we'll host a casual reading celebration, with many collaborators, friends, and former students of the Waldrops reading from favorite Burning Deck or Waldrop books.

The exhibit open from 6 to 9pm, readings begin at 6:30 and 8:00 by the following participants:

6:30

Heidi Broadhead - Alejandro de Acosta - Kristin P. Bradshaw - Rae Armantrout - Lynn Xu - E. Tracy Grinnell - Jena Osman - Lee Ann Brown - Joshua Beckman

8:30

Danielle Dutton & Martin Riker - Lisa Pearson - Sarah Riggs - Magdalena Zurawski - Matthew Cooperman - Sawako Nakayasu - Cole Swensen

We will also be showing off our book by and about the Waldrops, Keeping / the window openPresented by Wave Books and PNCA's Low-Residency MFA in Creative Writing.

Friday, March 29:
Come out to one of Portland's coolest literary spaces, the Independent Publishing Resource Center, and help us make an edition and learn how to sew a simple booklet. Then, in the evening, join us for a celebratory reading by Wave poets. The book-sewing will go from 2–5PM; the reading will go from 5–11PM, with roughly this schedule of readers:

5:30
