Dorothea Lasky's first book, AWE, was published by Wave in 2007. She is the author of three chapbooks, The Hatmaker's Wife (2006), Art (H_NGM_N Press, 2005), Alphabets and Portraits (Anchorite Press, 2004) and a forthcoming chapbook from Transmission Press in 2008. Born in St. Louis in 1978, her poems have appeared in Crowd, 6x6, Boston Review, Delmar, Phoebe, Filter, Knock, Drill, Lungfull!, Octopus, Absent, Forklift, Ohio, Coconut, Small Town, Typo, Fou, and Carve, among others. She is a graduate of the MFA program for Poets and Writers at the University of Massachusetts-Amherst and also has been educated at Harvard University and Washington University. She has taught poetry and visual art at Heath Elementary School, The New England Institute of Art, and Munroe Center for the Arts and has done educational research at the Harvard Museum of Natural History, the Philadelphia Zoo, and Project Zero. Currently, she lives in Philadelphia, where she edits the Katalanche Press chapbook series (along with poet, Michael Carr) and researches creativity through the SPARK! program, while pursuing her doctorate in education from the University of Pennsylvania.
